New beginnings…
Hello, I’m Vicki. If you’ve found your way here, welcome! For most of my working life I was a GP, spending 25 years listening to people at every stage of life. Again and again I saw that many people’s struggles weren’t caused by a lack of intelligence, knowledge or ability rather they came from feeling overwhelmed, stuck, pulled in too many directions or unsure what the next step should look like.
Those conversations taught me that being truly listened to is surprisingly rare in today’s world. Even as a highly trained and experienced GP I rarely had the time to properly and actively listen to someone for an hour. It’s a true luxury.
Life coaching is my way of continuing that work in a different setting. I don’t tell you what to do or give advice, the magic happens when I ask the right questions and give you the space to think clearly, reconnect with what matters and move forward with confidence. The joy in seeing that lightbulb moment is something really special. As one client said to me, “It’s embarrassingly simple when you look at it like that..” pointing to the whiteboard, “I just needed to get it out of my head and now I can see what I need to do.”
Whilst I’m happy to coach all ages, I am particularly skilled at working with people in midlife (35-65), a time of enormous physical, psychological and social change. You’re likely juggling work, ageing parents, teenagers, changing relationships and bodily changes that leave you wondering “Is this really how I want the next twenty years to look?”
The people I have coached have come with a variety of issues from big career change decisions, navigating bereavement, redundancy, work-life balance problems through to knowing where to start with a cluttered house, overgrown garden or wanting to nail their first pull-up! The beauty of coaching is that whilst I have a great depth and breadth of consulting experience, I don’t actually need to be a subject expert to coach someone through to a solution. The models we use to coach draw on the client’s experience and expertise, exploring possible resources they can tap into to find the answers.
You don’t even need a problem to benefit from coaching. It’s about getting to be your absolute best in all areas of life, striking a balance that keeps you happy and fulfilled now and for years to come.
My coaching style is calm, warm and practical. Clients describe me as empathetic and easy to talk to. The space I hold is non-judgemental and you can share confidential information secure in the knowledge it will go no further (unless I was worried about your or someone else’s safety as per standard safeguarding practice).
If this sounds like the kind of conversation you’ve been looking for, I’d love to have a chat with you. Why not book a free, no obligation 20 minute discovery call and we can see if we’re a good fit. All the best, Vicki.
